Roland TB-303 Jog Switch Replacement
Posted on March 5, 2011After years of use your TB-303 is bound to display sticky switches or worse...switches that don't work. The problem I had with my unit was sensitive switches. I'd be right in the middle of composing a patten and the TB-303 would register 2 note clicks instead of 1. Not so much a problem since you can use the Back button but after awhile it becomes quite annoying (even more when composing a Track). So I set about replacing the TB-303 "jog" switches.
You can get replacement switches from Mouser Electronics SKQEAAA010 ALPS Tactile & Jog Switches. These work perfect, and the only skills required are a little desoldering/soldering skills. The most difficult part and time consuming for me was removing the switch caps. I used a flat flat screwdriver but it still took some time and in fact some jog switch components popped write off with the switch cap!!!
After desoldering of the old jog switches its as simple as dropping in the new and soldering them in. Your TB-303 switches will function good as new like it did in 1981 :)
